New (untitled) Trouble/landscape drawing emerging

I really and truly enjoyed working on my last drawing (“Topple,” posted a few days ago), and I am reluctant to let go of the inclusion of landforms, so I figured I’m going to press on and continue exploring. And, as always find myself including the “trouble doll” human forms, so I started sketching another in the same series two nights ago. I’m also now completely obsessed with the idea of distilling the human form down into as few line strokes as possible (enter trouble dolls) while keeping the forms recognizable as a human form, and still conveying emotion through body pose. That said, here is where I am at. Like the last image, this is also 9″x12″. More to come as the drawing progresses.

Song of the Day to follow, as will today’s Trash City Radio Show archive once the show airs and I get it uploaded here. Last week there were technical troubles with the stream and I was only able to hear about 40 minutes of the show, but fingers crossed everything’s worked out and you’ll find it here later tonight. I shall return later today with more of everything.

India Ink on paper

I’ve had an image/concept for a drawing in my head over the last few days, and I’d attempted it with a larger scale watercolor, but it just didn’t do it for me. But the image wouldn’t go a way, so finally I sat down focused and determined to work at it again. A snack, a drink, ink pen and sketchbook, current events (the pertinent ones) flashing on the television screen . . . these were the motivating factors, all of which came after I got my pajamas on and originally got in bed last night. What came out then is a rum-inspired, current event-infused, popcorn-fueled image. I remembered to take random photos of it as I drew so I can share it’s development as well.

Partial trouble

Good Tuesday to you. As usual I’m crazed with projects I inflict on myself (for better or for worse, but all for the good and for the fun) but I did find time to sit down last night all cozy with my art box and paper and started drawing another trouble/drum image. I gave up on it because I was a bit hasty and the shading started getting totally out of control, but like I’ve promised, I’ll still share things I’m not 100% happy with because it underscores this blogs mission of creating to perpetuate creating, even if it’s not perfect the first run. Sort of like a demo tape for paper or something. So, this is what came out. More to come, I think the Troubles are reviving as my way of coping with all the grey around me!

And now, I’m running out the door . . . more later!
