A Very Peculiar exhibit!

Hello from a foggy brain on this cold and crisp Friday afternoon. I’m writing this as I have my first cup of coffee late in the day, after a looong night up with two sick kids. It kinda threw us all for a loop. I’m awake now (sort of) somehow, and it’s pretty appropriate that I make this post in the midst of the fog-brain, because if my writing is peculiar, then it’s actually perfect.

I’m really excited about sharing this group of images, they are wildly varied in subject matter and media, and are all truly 100%ly very peculiar! I love it. The submissions are all from the younger set (no one over 14), save for an image each from myself and my sister and I’m not telling how old we are. It’s really great to see young’uns getting more involved in the blog projects, they are the ones that inspire most with their uncensored thought processes and willingness to take ideas to their fullest potential. Thank you to my nephew Kincaid for concocting this project for us. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Project updates: Very Peculiar deadline today, Mondo Instante #4 announced

Very Peculiar

Last call! Looking for entries that are, uhh… very peculiar! Today is the deadline, and tomorrow will be the group post of submissions already in my hands. There’s still time, I’ll take submissions up til late tonight. Pass the word on, share this link get yourself and others moving and creating! Details can be found on the link in the right sidebar over there —–>

Mondo Instante #4

And now it’s time to set January’s Mondo Instante in motion! Our world wide photography experiment is ready to go again! The next date has been selected by our committee of three (Silvia, Mecha and myself, Italy, Argentina and USA unite!) and it has been set for . . .

January 21, 2011 at 4pm UTC.

In time-zone-speak that means:

5pm/17:00 CET (Italy/Austria/Croatia)
4pm/16:00 GMT (Ireland/England/Scotland)
-4pm/16:00 UTC-
1pm/13:00 ART (Argentina)
11am/11:00 EST (New York/Toronto/Cleveland)
10am/10:00 CST (St. Louis/Minneapolis)
9am/09:00 MST (Denver/Calgary)
8am/08:00 PST (Los Angeles/Seattle)

This time, I only want your name and location, we’re going to go silent with this one and let the photos speak for themselves. As usual subject matter is at your discretion, I only ask that you give an idea of your environment, whether it is a close up of something nearby or panoramic. You can plan ahead to where you want to be, or have your camera with you and let spontaneity and whim be your compass as you take one photo at the prescribed time.

Send all submissions to shan@tuliptreestudios.com by Sunday, January 23rd and I will post all of the submissions together on Monday, January 24.

Last time around participation was at an all time high with 30 entries and new participants, please feel free to invite your friends and loved ones into the project. Also note that Mondo Instante #4 will also carry the Perpetual Creative Energy banner, and while I’m not sure yet what the give away will be, one person involved in the project will be selected at random to receive some sort of creative goodie (music, art, or book). I will fill you in as that is decided. I think I also need to create a little PCE icon so projects can be easily identified as such. Hmm….something to go work on…be back later!

Very Peculiar…very peculiar!

Ok, here we go one more time. Unfortunately this project has been overshadowed by several things and while I’ve got some really great submissions waiting in the wings, it never got a good push for contributions. Also, it is listed as a “kids” project, but by that I mean the mastermind behind it is my 11 year old nephew…hardly a kid, and his idea is a fun one. So, if you’ve got some creative energy to spare, show us something Very Peculiar (sky’s the limit with media choice)!

I’m extending the deadline to Thursday, January 6th so send whatever you’ve come up with by then, and the group post will be made this Friday, January 7th. Spread the word…I have a feeling if you’re reading this, you’ll know some others that can handle the subject matter, har har!
