Tulip Tree Presents 2011

Happy monday and happy 2011 Tulip Tree comrades! I’m finally back in the saddle with a keyboard under my fingertips and words in my head, ready to jump start the blog again!

No real new year’s resolutions, but I’ve got a list of posts I want to make and over the next few days and I’ll be busy busy writing those, all those things I’ve been meaning to do lately—adding a few new projects, (re)plugging the short deadline extension for Very Peculiar (we’ve got some neat entries for this but with the lack of posting, the holidays, and the issues with link sharing I feel this project got pushed under the rug), sharing a few music gems (news, reviews and links), including a freebie download remix of Drunken Balordi’s “Filthy Dog”…(very worth your while!), and of course setting the date for the January installment of Mondo Instante. Finally, I’m going to unveil the Perpetual Creative Energy component to our group projects starting with Mondo Instante #4. Phew, quiet time is over!

At this very moment I’m testing another method to try to get the blog posts to appear on FB so that those of you who rely on the posts there for content alerts will know what’s going on over here. Of course you can always check the Tulip Tree blog manually, but I’m still going to find a way around this annoying glitch. So far nothing’s worked but I’m tenacious and I’m sure I’ll figure something out eventually. While I’m doing that I’m streaming Gorillaz La Musicale performance for Canalplus, a French premium television channel, and I’m wondering if you’ve seen it? If not there’s the link for the entire performance and interviews. It’s all very excellent and making me wistful and wishful for more Gorillaz performances, but if what I’ve been hearing is true, there will be output from Damon Albarn in several of his other incarnations coming down the line…I’m waiting!

Alrighty then, enough preamble, I’m off to get a post with some meat written, I’ll return shortly!

Chutalute!

Group Project Announcement: Very Peculiar

NOTE: Project deadline moved to January 2, 2011, please spread the word, and get the yung’uns creating!

Greetings comrades! Today brings an announcement for a new project, the second Tulip Tree group project for kids (and as always, adults are invited as well). This time it is my nephew Kincaid who has created this one and here is his project idea:

Guidelines: This project is about any way you interpret the word peculiar. You can sculpt, paint, draw, create something with found objects (the example here was made from pipe cleaners) or anything you think would suit you best, the only rule is the artwork must be abstract. Anyone may join in this project.

Submission information: All submissions should be sent to shan@tuliptreestudios.com by January 2 (gallery post of all submissions will be made on Monday, January 3). Please include your name, location (optional), the medium used for your piece, and a sentence or two about the work if you wish. Hope you will join in!
